Projects

Every business you work on is a project. Start new ones from the dashboard, rename them, switch between them, and delete the ones you no longer need.

A project is one business idea and everything that belongs to it: the canvas, the roadmap of phases, and the chat for each phase. Nothing carries over between projects, so a side idea deserves a project of its own. There is no limit on how many you can have.

We land on the four launch scents and the story behind each one.

Phase 02 / 05
A project card shows the phase you are in and how far the roadmap has come.

The dashboard

The dashboard lists your projects, most recently active first. Each card shows the phase you are in and how far along the roadmap is. Click a card to open the project, and use the house button in the project's topbar to come back. The dots button on a card renames or deletes the project.

Starting a project

Click Start something new at the bottom of the dashboard and describe what you want to build. If you would rather not write anything yet, Start project and Brainstorm ideas send a ready-made first message.

Start something new

A small candle brand called Two Ends, launching with four scents on our own site

Start projectBrainstorm ideas
The Start something new box. What you type becomes the first message of the new project.

A project started here has no roadmap yet, so it opens in a planning conversation. Buildpad gathers the picture of the idea, helps you set a goal, and runs Ultraplan to lay out the phases, the same way sign-up did for your first project. See Phases. The project gets a name like My second project until you rename it.

Tip

Not sure yet what to build? Start the project with Brainstorm ideas. Buildpad turns the first phase into Find an idea and digs through what you already know before anything gets planned. See Finding an idea.

Renaming a project

From the dashboard, open the dots menu on the card and choose Rename. Inside a project, click the name in the topbar and type the new one. Collaborators can rename a project too.

Deleting a project

Only the project owner can delete a project. Open the dots menu on the card, choose Delete, and confirm. The project and everything in it is gone for good, including its websites, and collaborators lose access at the same moment. If you are a collaborator and want out, use Leave project in the project's Share menu instead. See Collaboration.
